PPE, but make it FASHION!

Hey Dolls,

Lately there has been a ton happening across the world with the emergence and spread of Covid-19 (coronavirus). With all the bans, curfews and social distancing it's hard to know what's best. Some of our faves are rocking personal protective equipment (PPE) on flights, to the grocery store and everywhere in between. So let's talk about how to wear PPE, but make it FASHION. There are several pieces of PPE today we're going to talk about the most common and generally effective.

EYE PROTECTION

The CDC suggests using goggles, face shields or glasses to minimize exposure to hazards that cause transmission of bodily fluids into your eyes. While we all can't be as bold as Andre 3000 and rock full-on goggles for fashion, we can take this advice and choose some sunglasses that can protect our eyes and our look. Here's some tips for choosing a great pair:

  • Go big or go home! This is not the time for mini glasses. You want them to cover as much of your eyes and the area around them as possible.

  • Snuggle up! Make sure the glasses fit well. You don't want them sliding off or for infectious agents to be able to get into your eyes easily.

GLOVES

We love a good glove for no reason at all, but now they have even more purpose. The CDC suggests the use of gloves to help keep your hands clean and lessen your chance of getting germs that can make you sick. While the traditional disposable latex gloves are the most effective and safe, there are some other options like:

  • Leather or vegan leather gloves. These can be easily disinfected and don't allow fluids to seep through.

  • Latex gloves for fashion. These are normally thicker and more expensive than disposable latex gloves. (Don't forget oil and powder or you'll never get them on😂!)

MASKS

The face mask has has been trending since 2018. Not only are the dope, edgy and fire AF, they also protect our faces from the splatter of potentially infectious fluids. Their functionality has moved far beyond just keeping dust out of your lungs at Coachella. Because face masks have been trending for so long, the options are virtually endless. Just be sure to consider the following:

  • Be sure it's not sheer or mesh. You don't want things to penetrate the mask.

  • It should cover your entire nose and mouth.

  • The fit should be breathable but snug.

Here at the Doll House we are NOT medical professionals or authority, but we do know that there's always an opportunity to pair style with function. If you have to stay safe in this crazy world, do it in style! We want to know what you Dolls are doing to maintain your own personal style during these uncertain times?
