Voguing, Rainbows and Fire Reads

Hey Dolls,

It's pride month and that means much more than voguing, rainbows and fire reads. We are all about fashion here at The Dollhouse and it would be pretty remiss of us not to discuss the many contributions of the LGBTQIA+ community to the fashion world. Let's start off with some of our fave designers.

Designers

Yves Saint Laurent

Yves Saint Laurent was the first designer to host a multicultural fashion show, one of the first to design and develop a ready to wear line and is the creator of the women's tuxedo. Talk about being a trendsetter!

Alexander McQueen

Alexander McQueen, always one to make his own rules, lowered women's waist-line measurement around the world. His "bumster" jean pioneered the repositioning of waist-line measurement universally.

Gianni Versace

The fashion industry did not become a 2.5 TRILLION dollar industry for no reason at all. Gianni Versace deeply intergrated high fashion and couture fashion into pop culture. He was an innovator in bridging the gap between high fashion and luxury daily wear.

Georgio Armani

We can all thank Georgio Armani that we do not have to wear suits padded to the gods, that is, unless we want to. He created the unstructured suit.

Stylists, Runway Coaches and Afficiandos

Jay Alexander

If you're a model and you have legs, then Ms. Jay has taught, fine tuned or influenced your runway walk. Best known as "runway coach extraordinaire", Miss J has taught runway to models from New York to Milan and back again!

James Charles

One of YouTube's most popular personalities (18.1 million followers),James Charles, is as influential as they come. James is also Cover Girl's first ever cover boy as their first male ambassador. He's into music now; let's see what barriers James breaks there!

Sir John

Sir John beats THE QUEEN BEE! I think that's enough said.

Pat McGrath

In an industry where lesbians are tucked away tighter than a FUPA in Skims, Pat McGrath shines like a bright light. Pat McGrath is labeled as the most influential make-up artist in the industry.

Models

Valentina Sampaio

Valentina Sampaio is the 1st openly trans model to be on the cover of Vogue Paris.

Lea T

Lea T is the 1st trans woman to be the face of a global beauty campaign at Givenchy.

Kyle McCoy

Kyle McCoy is America's Next Top Model's first queer, non-binary model.

The LGBTQIA+ community is the spine of the fashion and beauty industry and too many times they’re represented as the sassy support or quick-witted best friend. But fashion has been propelled forward in ways unimaginable by the LGBTQIA+ community. So instead of just repping a rainbow or busting our best vogue moves in solidarity, let's focus on their influence and show or unwavering appreciation. We all know June is Pride Month! How will you Dolls celebrate, connect and show support? Join the conversation below or on Instagram @porscheporshia.
